Share review of Warwick Hospital
The Warwick nurses who looked after me when I was taken in by ambulance at 9am were very good, professional and arranged me to see a doctor quite quickly. It was thought that I might have an infection, as I had a DIEP breast reconstruction 2 weeks previous at UHCW. To ensure my wounds were healing and not causing an infection I had to go to UHCW to see the plastics team to check.
I was transferred to UHCW by ambulance and the A&E can only be described as appalling. No beds. I had to sit in a chair for a couple of hours and after major surgery this was very difficult. The plastics team were very professional when I saw them and they were equally appauled at how I had been treated. They were happy that my wounds were fine and that this was not the source of my infection. They explained that I would need to go back to Warwick as there were no beds at UHCW. A&E told me that they'd be a 12 hour wait for an ambulance, so my friend had to drive me.
This time I was a walk-in to Warwick A&E and my experience was awful. Long wait, about 4 hours, to be seen and then I was left about another hour in a cubicle on my own. I was eventually seen at 10pm and the doctor felt I should be admitted to a ward due to an internal infection. I was eventually transferred around 11.30pm. At no point was I offered fluid or anything to eat, from 9am until 11.30pm.
