The medical care provided by both the doctors and burses was excellent. They were also friendly, approachable and keen to answer any questions. The patience and kindness shown by all the nurses towards the older residents of the ward was outstanding. The standard of the food served was good - well presented, tasty and of good quality. Improvements :- 1) A minor niggle but I struggled to get my choice of breakfast in Malins despite filling in the form each day, it seemed to be a problem to have two Weetabix as a cereal and croissants were never available. However, when I was in CCU I managed to get my exact breakfast choice (again two Weetabix and a Croissant) without a problem. Overall I would rate breakfast in Malins as acceptable but could easily do better 2) Improved discharge. Again a minor niggle - but the day I was discharged, there seemed to be a lack of clarity as to exactly what the timetable was as to when I could leave I realise in a coronary care unit there are no guarantees - emergency care will always come first but perhaps a brief explanation of a rough timetable wouldn't be too much to ask. Overall I would rate this as good but still room for improvement 3) Bedside TV This was the most disappointing aspect of my stay in hospital I found the TV service to use unreliable. The touchscreen TV would only work occasionally which made using it a problem. I only want to watch the TV in the evening and found I could not change channels after about an hour of watching The price per day was OK - but is the system did not work it was poor value for money. If the Hospital are going to charge for Television then they need to do considerably more to ensure a robust and reliable service. Overall this was by far the most disappointing aspect my hospital stay and I would rate the TV service as Poor to Very Poor
