I think the recovery college is an absolutely fantastic resource for people who are being discharged from therapeutic input or for carers. Unfortunately, it is being used as a stop gap for extremely long therapeutic waiting lists. Recovery college is not an appropriate alternative to therapy, or for a team approach to someone in crisis. I'd really love to see the recovery college being promoted more and having a specific purpose, not just to make up for shortcomings in other teams.

Suggested improvements
I'd love a wider range of courses that were a little more intellectual or for people who are functioning fairly well day to day but have longer term mental health difficulties. A lot of the courses can seem a little patronising or basic. It would be great to have a group exploring a relevant book or study/article or podcast, maybe with group members engaging with the content during the week and having a facilitated discussion during the session - like a book club.
