I am answering for my brother, who died of a brain tumor in April. He remained at home throughout with help of community nurse specialists and advice line. The nurse specialist listened very carefully to my brother and genuinely wanted to understand his wishes - which she respected and acted upon. She was there for us - visited regularly and always rang back when contacted in a crisis . During lockdown a replacement nurse specialist kept in frequent contact by phone - we did not feel abandoned. Advice line - One of main reasons my brother was able to remain at home. I rang frequently for advice on symptom control and the nurse always knew what to do - gave confidence and made us feel safe.
