I came in on Monday 15th August. I think the wait for the op was a bit long, I was about 5 1/2 to 6 hours waiting and then there was an emergency and I was sent home. I came back 2 days later to very friendly staff (as was the same monday) very good and happy staff, very good could not tell better. Thank you.

Review of Appley Ward written by a patient
17th August 2016

I found all the doctors, nursing and care staff, and other medical/technical staff, all very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Although I am 85 all the doctors of several different nationalities took my case seriously and wanted to make sure I became well. I have nothing but praise for everybody. Downsides? Because when I went in the other five patients in my bay suffered from dementia and had various problems, the lights went out very late at night (2330 - 0000 hours) and on again at 0600 because staff had to change bedding etc., I was not able to sleep properly - only an hour or so at a time. The ward tended to be very noisy - a particular problem being the non-self-closing waste bins which made a clatter. Food was much better than expected, not cordon bleu but a reasonable choice and some dishes quite tasty. My only criticism, being just over the border line for Type 2 diabetes, was that some of the desserts were somewhat sweet and synthetic, particularly the so-called ice cream. Whilst it was no fun having to be in hospital for nearly four weeks, I am very appreciative of all the care I received. One other comment is that as a patient without dementia, I felt that there needed to be more activities for patients with dementia to stop them wandering or crying out. The care staff did their best, and I noticed any activity did seem to help.

We couldn't fault St Mary's at all but my wife jade to wait for an 45 min for an ambulance to arrive . The staff in the AE dept should be highly praised Also the doctor that treated my wife 7 stitches and a CT scan was first class
