The whole experience I have received from SALT has been appalling. My son has not been fully assessed interaction of 5 mins is not an assessment. Not one person has showed me as a parent how to get my sone talking more or even investigated if he has tounge tie or needs help with mouth muscles strengthening. I was contacted via a text from a random number not even stating they were fro NHS SALT. The therapist who has seen my son twice has 1st said Gestalt learner which is totally wrong then decided to go forward with AAC and sign language with no really assessment or discussion with parent if they are happy My son has a voice and has some words why on earth are we not being shown how to develop their voice further. I'm utterly appalled by this service and have never felt so alone alon how to help my son unless I pay private which I do kot have tye funds for.

Suggested improvements
Rather than assume actually interact with the child. Rather than text pic up the phone and talk to the parent we are human beings and some of us like to actually talk to the professional. Followed up with material that you say you will. Listen to the parents if your sticking them on another waiting list when they have been waiting over a year give them tools work sheet words that are the best to work on worh child and how to move forward before you send them away again. The system is shocking and the caliber of practitioner is shocking.
