My father died earlier this week. He had been suffering from cancer of the bile duct and treated partly at Colchester Hospital and partly privately in Harley Street. When he became too weak to make the journey to London, we were told "don't worry - you're really lucky. The palliative care team in your area is really excellent." And so you were! Everyone from the people who took our calls and referred us to the right people, the community nurses especially - Rachel, Yvonne - I wish I could remember all your names, you who tended to my father at any hour of the day and night that we called on you, as he lay dying and were so very kind to all of us. Also Doctor - Farouq? -again I am so sorry we didn't catch your name, but we thought it so good of you to give us so much of your time. My father died in our arms, with all six of his children holding and supporting him. You all made it possible for him to die with dignity, free from too much distress. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Martina Weatherley
