My son has recently been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and has been receiving care and treatment in the rheumatology department. The care he has received has been amazing and I cannot fault the hospital in any way at all.
The staff that we have come into contact with have made a very difficult and traumatic time much easier. There has never been a problem with answering our questions or taking time to explain the condition and the treatment options and ensuring that we fully understand everything
I was admitted to A&E at 2am on a Saturday night - seen almost immediately by Triage but then had to wait five hours to see Speciality Doctor when I was the only person in the waiting room. A bit more communication during that time would have been great.
The two Max Fac. doctors and consultant that I saw were all amazing and according to my dentist here in London did a brilliant job for him to continue care with.
Despite the bad publicity it sometimes receives, my care, treatment and surgery at the RCH Treliske has been exemplary. I could not have wished for better care or more consideration from all staff involved with my wellbeing.
The most gripes I have is long waiting times although had appointment time. But also it has cost me a fortune to have treatment due to the excessive car parking charges.
everything was great except for the parking situation
I was treated in the mermaid center, the headland unit and the sunrise center i cannot fault the care and treatment and respect I was given.
I am currently under Dr Duncan Wheatley for treatment of breast cancer which has reappeared after 10 years and is now in my bones/spine with a small tumor in my lung. Dr Wheatley has given a consistent superb quality of care to me in 2003/04 & now 2013/14 with a team of wonderful doctors and nurses alongside him. I am on a research drug trial and receiving more monitoring than I would if I was not on the trial but I find that reassuring & I was glad to have been offered the chance. Dr Wheatley has an amazing way of relating to the patient and the supporting relative (my husband in our case) giving time to explain, answer questions & reassure with the result that I trust him totally.
I attend the Headland Unit once a month for an injection & blood checks for my bones and the staff there are kind and work very hard to keep appointment times even though some of the treatments they are providing are difficult to keep to time & chair space can be at a premium. I attend the Sunrise Centre for all cancer related checkups and all staff are kind, positive & professional including the Receptionists & of course the tea ladies! In particular I am looked after by the team dor the Aristocat Trial, usually Caroline & Lisa and they really do go the extra mile to ensure I am looked after. They worked exceptionally hard to get me started on the drug trial, arranging all the extra scans, blood tests etc within a week so that I could start my treatment back in October 2013. Where possible they will link blood tests with CT Scans even though they are often busy elsewhere, so that the cannula can be used to take blood as well as the scan dye as my veins are so awful. They always smile & always have time, fantastic.
Finally I use the CT Scan facilities regularly and the staff there are also wonderful, totally professional, making time to ensure you know what is happening, helping on and off the scan bed if my back is bad etc. Once when an emergency delayed the scans they kept everyone informed and when an opportunity arose got us all through as quick as possible.
My experience of Treliske is excellent, THANK-YOU
Had appalling treatment throughout this episode. No communication between departments and no communication with the patient. Was starved for 7 days out of 10 and had operations constantly cancelled. There is a complaint being looked at and the condition is still carrying on. Physio has not rung to make an appointment, x rays were delayed several times.
Everything was perfect
Great care received, thank you.
