Having been discharged from postnatal ward and taking our baby home she became floppy and unresponsive so we were admitted via A&E to hedgehog ward. The staff here were excellent looking after us reassuring us and making sure I was able to feed the baby well. We were discharged two days later baby having put on weight and things well underway for return home. If I'd been given this level of attention and care with feeding in hospital I don't believe we would ever have needed to be admitted. The advice on postnatal was misleading. Was told baby would feed on demand, actually I should have been told don't let baby sleep more than three hours...if That Happens wake them to feed. I left my new born (2.5 weeks early) baby 6 hours without food due to poor advice. Hedgehog staff were so supportive. Worth naming - Ellie (who was truly fantastic - right balance of care and information, Gemma - very professional, Liz - reassuring and patient. Thank you all on Hedgehog ward.
