Review of Bereavement Group written by a patient
29th August 2018

The first impression was of calm and peaceful, with the seen looking on to the gardens and nice and bright as well. Laura, Liz and Marvy were very kind and welcoming showing interest and care to each and everyone who attended. The group was friendly and we were encouraged to "open up" about thoughts and feelings that were so familiar to all. I felt I was not alone with what i experienced. I can't think of anything to make expertise.

Review of Counselling Outpatients written by a patient
29th August 2018

My care came at the night time after my partner had died - I had been to the 8 week bereavement course. My counsellor allowed me to set the theme for each session we met, and I found that urgent feelings came up unexpectedly and were not scheduled from the last session. She was empathetic, but steered me towards a way to resolve the problem - looked at it a different way, not just work on feelings. We used a book, I am following in the sessions and she encouraged me to continue the exercises at home. The sessions were led entirely by myself, and I consider this the key to success.

My counselling was very good, apart from someone kind listening. I was given some great advice and ways of dealing with my grieving process for me it doesn't need improving.

Review of Counselling Outpatients written by a patient

The counselor made me feel able to talk about things that were very painful to speak about. The environment was very good and enabled me to relax and to admit that I wasn't coping as well as I thought. The counselor helped me to get a better balance to the experiences that I have gone through over the last 10 yrs or so i.e the loss of much loved husband who died after a long illness.

Love the care given friendly not pushy. Loved the therapies given could have done with more but understood there was limited session. Would have liked to have done it longer. Feel uplift and stronger after my visits.

I was received with such care and consideration. The warmth and joy which lives at Longfield is very healing in itself. It is a very relaxed place but where things get done without you knowing there is no tension only acceptance and there is much laughter. I cannot fault it in any way and the food was great. For me to be cooked for was lovely.

The counselor with whom I was placed, had been well chosen to match my personality, interests and situation. We quickly gelled and I felt relaxed in her presence.
