Response from Isebrook Hospital

Thank you for your review. Your Physiotherapy treatment plan is prescribed by our Therapists and involves all ward staff. Nursing staff continue Therapy prescriptions so that every intervention will be part of your prescribed treatment; for example if the therapy staff want you to practice transferring with a piece of equipment the nursing staff will practice that with you during the day and night when you need to transfer. All our patients are also given self directed exercise to practice on their own or with support staff and these exercises allow you to advance strength and balance so that your next therapy session can work on these advances. When patients are admitted to our unit we explain how we work as a team over a 24 hour period and our patients are asked to sign a rehabilitation contract to show that they understand how their treatment works and to agree to perform any self directed exercise prescribed. The Occupational Therapist will assess if it is appropriate for you to have a kitchen assessment and will support with this; the kitchen areas are for therapeutic use for patients who will be accessing their kitchens on discharge. I hope this information is of assistance and we would always encourage patients to ask for further information or clarification if needed.
