Very nice staff, Sharon and company are great
All though had a fair a wait, staff were very helpful and approachable and everything was explained helpfully.
Satisfactory care, staff have been tremendous
Rob who did our (my very young daughter) triage notes and observations was beyond lovely and polite. I asked if it was okay to breastfeed my baby and I've never felt more comfortable outside of feeding in my own home. He organised a room straight away and got me a blanket in case I got cold. I am over the moon with the care and respect he gave us.
I had to wait 3 hours for them to tell me I was fine, there was like dishes by the chairs in the waiting room and the chair I had to sit on was broken and causing me more pain
I entered Grimsby A&E with a gardening injury to my hand at approximately 1.30pm on Friday 6th August.
I waited to be called forward at the reception and my injury was logged. I was then told to take a seat in one of the kiosks. The kiosk was dirty. The Perspex had droplets on it as though someone had shaken a fizzy drink.
Over the next 7.5 hours, i sat in the kiosk watching people come and go and twice I I approached the reception to ask why I was still waiting. The first occasion was at 6pm and I was brusquely told that I had only been waiting 4 hours. I accepted this and waited for another 2 hours until I approached the desk again and I was asked what my problem was and was told i would be seen. I asked who would be seeing me and was told it was the emergency nurse and that’s why I hadn’t been triaged even though I saw everyone else come and go. I sat down again, but at 9.30pm I asked a different receptionist who then told me that I wasn’t even on the system! I am a 75 year old lady with chronic asthma and I had been made to sit in the dirty kiosk for 8 hours! The whole time I was there, I didn’t see anyone come to clean or sanitise the kiosks or seating. I was shocked. I have seen better hygiene standards in a cafe.
At 10.15 I was finally seen by another brusque nurse who seemed irritated and made me feel like a hindrance. She didn’t have the medical materials to dress my wound and she improvised. In all honesty, I could have made a better job of it myself. The nurse told me to go to the pharmacy and buy the materials I needed. I was eventually collected by my daughter in law at 10.45pm who then took me to a late chemist to purchase a tubular finger gauze, but the pharmacy didn’t have one.
The whole experience lasted almost 10 hours from entering the hospital, with no food or drink.
The service at Diana Princess of Wales hospital was atrocious and quite frankly, frightening. I hope I am not unfortunate enough to have to experience this place and it’s inept staff again.
I broke my nose and as there was no bruising the dr wasn’t interested and told me to go back to my GP to get a referral to ENT
