I was in A&E for 11.5 hrs waiting for a Dr to tell me a plan of treatment. I am 33wks pregnant wasn't even offered water or checked on apart from the obs. Had to beg them to let me leave to get myself soemthing to eat. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a hospital emergency department. I was moved to a different room and left sat of a hard chair for hours and had to ask the porters myself for a bed. It was diabolical. I was only seen because my husband showed up and angry as fed up at how I was treated.
My husband and I chose Grimsby hospital for the birth of our daughter based on only hearing positive things about the maternity unit, and we were certainly not disappointed. Throughout my pregnancy we felt listened to and cared for, and we both said on numerous occasions how we felt safe in the hands of the staff and their decisions throughout my closely monitored pregnancy. Once labour and birth arrived the fantastic care we had received throughout, continued. My labour was short for a first time pregnancy, and my birth was calm and positive thanks to the staff on the Honeysuckle ward. The aftercare we received during my overnight stay was also fantastic. Staff were available at anytime of day or night to help and answer questions, also the food was rather nice which is a bonus! Well done Grimsby, I am currently saying we're not having any other children.. But if/when we do, we will be back! Thank you for such a wonderful and positive experience throughout.
It was the most pain I had ever experienced and I could not sit/stand/walk or move.
The wait for an ambulance was around 5 hours so we had to try make our own way up.
I was in a hospital wheelchair but my husband had to leave me understandably due to the covid regulations.
I waited 2 hours before being called into the first room and had to try walk over because there was nobody to push me. This set off all the pain again and I was crying in agony by the time I got over to the nurse.
After all this the Drs and Nurses were very kind and patient with me. They did their best to try make me comfortable and I had lots of different pain relief.
I was left alone a lot but it was very busy, and anyone I did see was very kind and explained most things to me. I was in the treatment room for around 6 hours unable to move, and at A&E for about 9 hours in total.
After some of the pain relief finally started to work, I was prescribed some tablets and thankfully wheeled back to the reception to wait for my husband to collect me.
I thoroughly respect the hospital staff and everything they have to deal with on a daily basis, especially with the pandemic.
They were kind and professional.
My treatment was very satisfactory .
Although the staff seemed short handed and very busy I have no complaints with the attention and treatment I received was exemplary!
Mostly a very good experience
The general care was good.
Was in an out of a&e with an x-ray in around an hour, everyone very helpful and friendly.
I was in a wheelchair. My husband was not allowed to stay with me. My pod in the Urgent Care Centre was close to the door to the security office. There was a constant stream of people members of the public/staff members/ambulance crews and security guards all going to and at times queueing outside this door. So with all those extra people near me why couldn't my husband stay.
When I was called for triage another patient kindly pushed me out. Wouldn't it be sensible to note on a patients record if they are in a wheelchair so that the staff know that just calling out the name is not going to produce a patient who unable to get to them on their own.
The chairs in the pods were not cleaned between patients which I consider to be unacceptable.
I had an injury which needed monitoring but although there was a nurse in the office she could not have seen if I had gone unconscious as I had been placed by staff with my back to her.
Lovely staff made me feel safe and at ease.
