Share review of Cynthia Spencer Hospice
As a carer for the patients, my husband, I saw it Marie Curie nurses over a period of 4/5 days - my husband deteriorated very rapidly - one nurse came 3 times and t was her that I felt more comfortable with in looking after my husband and giving me support.
Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that the experience was not as positive as it should have been. Hospice at Home is commissioned to provide support for patients wishing to die at home, there is no restriction in their referral criteria for seeing patients who still wish to be considered for resuscitation. It is through Hospice at Home visiting that sometimes these sensitive conversations can be had and patients may choose to change their mind or they may wish to continue to be considered for active resuscitation. It is unclear as to whether it was the team or the GP who used the term that Hospice at Home would not ’kick in’, we will continue to work with our GP colleagues in ensuring they are updated on the Hospice at Home referral criteria.
