My MS nurse is just the best. Full of knowledge without being over the top. She lets me talk about the things that matter or concern me. At no time does she dictate how my half an hour appointment is spent. I want to talk about my MS - fine , if not that's also okay because just being treated as more than my illness is the best medicine for me. She has empathy and really listens to what i have to say. She supports me in actively managing my own condition the way i want to. She advises, suggests and informs. She gets annoyed at the medication restrictions that might help me but i can't have because NICE has said it's not financial good sense and my PCT won't fund anyway. All in all half an hour twice a year is never enough but i thank God she is there for me and others like me, only a phone call away between appointments, bolstering me up through the bad times and laughing with me through the good times. The only improvements that could be made is not my MS nurse but the archaic building we have to meet in. No automatic doors for wheelchair access and out of date 'disabled' toilet facilities.
