2nd December 2014

As a general rule, the District Nurses that I see are friendly and pleasant. I have been treated by them since June 2014 and have watched them get gradually more stressed as the workload increases but the available resources do not. They find it difficult to get the cooperation that they need from others such as GPs and Hospital Outpatient Services. Often they appear to be left to get on with it as best this can. Obviously, some do better than others. They all try not to let their own frustrations get in the way of patient/carer relationships but they are only human. Things could be so much better if more communication on a two-way basis could be utilised. Too often, I have been under the impression that I should do as I am told without questioning the reasoning behind this. Money is wasted on pointless supplies that someone has decided are needed. Journeys are doubled because resources have not been made available and have to be fetched. (This could be avoided to a large extent if I could Email the Nurses to tell them what I have/haven't got.) A lot of time and money could be saved if the Medics had the insight to listen to the patients and their carers.
