I was a patient in 2019. I was admitted after an overdose, but having been a resident of prospect park in Reading. Unfortunately despite the best efforts of the staff of Prospect park, it was really about keeping patients safe, rather than treatment. What a difference coming to the Cardinal Clinic. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I can only say staying here was like a 4 star hotel, but with medication. I was switched onto lithium, and very shortly I felt much better. I should have been put on lithium much earlier as for me it really was a wonder drug. Now nearly 18 months later my mood has been nice and stable and my motivation is back. I am still in contact with many of the people who were in the clinic at the same time, as we understand what each other was going to. I also attended some day sessions, which were also good. Anyway, for Bipolar it worked well for me. Good luck with your recovery if you are reading this.

The classes and consultants allowed me to fully understand my issues, and get a function for recovery.

Optional weekend classes for choose who want, as they were mainly relaxation base but the week structure kept me occupied which was more stabilising.

Some nurses are incredible and very attentive and others not so much./nDid not feel like a important patient in some situations.

Notice quiter and less aggressive patients needs./nNot give PRN without having a chat with it having nurses available for other patients when 1 patient is working off.

Excellent staff and care and attention given to my individual needs. Group sessions informative and practical - meals fantastic.

I would prefer to have appointments arranged with my psychiatrist, rather than being called out of group sessions it would be good to be allowed dressing gown { } after 8 pm.

The support from the therapist, consultants and nurses has been amazing and definitely helped my recovery.

Nurses were compassionate and helpful. I did feel just advice a little overwhelming.

There could be more 1-2-1 time with individual therapists.
