Share review of Berrywood Hospital
Good as I felt listened to and respected generally and the level of care was good.
Our current practice, when patients are transferred to Bay Ward, are welcomed and orientated around the ward. We also have Welcome Packs. The ward routine is explained which includes meal times whereupon everyone is offered a meal/ fluids to ensure that there is an adequate dietary intake (as nutrition or lack of nutrition can affect mental health). Those who miss meals are then placed on a food/fluid chart. We have females who have eating issues alongside mental health difficulties and the nursing staff share their concerns if an individual is not observed to be eating and drinking. As hospital food is standardised, those who do not participate in meals, have takeaways or family member provide meals. We also have an activity co-ordinator and OT staff who interact with our patients. I will share this complaint with the Team during Supervision/Star Day to ensure that there is no recurrence and apologise on behalf of the staff.
