Review of A&E (Bassetlaw) written by a patient
18th February 2019

I would like to say how great the standard of care was I received today from the ambulance staff to everyone in the A and E department today. The department was very busy on arrival but the standard of care I received was amazing, everyone took time to explain procedures and I was dealt with quickly with kindness and compassion. I cannot praise them highly enough. Thank you everyone.

Can't praise the service enough. I was in considerate pain with sciatica and was advised by the 111 service to go to A & E (it was 10pm) when e contacted them. Was seen in a reasonable amount of time and offered pain killing drugs ans some advice on future prevention and managing the situation.

Review of A&E (Bassetlaw) written by a carer
20th January 2019

The sister present in A&E on Sunday 20th January 2019 from 6.30pm sees it fit to assess her patients and deal with one specific issue. The specific issues in question were severe chest pains and blood present and seeping from the ear. The question given to the patient was "which issue is bothering you more as i can only deal with one problem." This is absolutely appalling in an A&E department. We wouldnt be here if it wasn't a concern. This needs seriously addressing. Furthermore to this we were sent to another department, assessed by a Doctor whom needed to refer us back with high concerns towards the patients health. Therefore this should have been dealt with in the first place through A&E to recieve the correct treatment. Nurses can not have reviews?? Sister Patrisha and Nurse Julie need better attitudes towards patients, person centred care springs to mind. We are here for help, not for comments such as "we can only deal with one thing here go to you GP"

Review of Radiology - Bassetlaw written by a patient
9th January 2019

Had a mammogram, first time here. Three previous ones in Cornwall. Am a retired srn,rmn 40 years service. Felt so upset by the offhand, unfriendly, treatment by tbe receptionist then radiographer. They were not rude but almost and saw in the grotty waiting area how they addressed patients. No smiles and very into orders. I had a horrible experience and am ashamed of how patients are treated. I am retired but have been a nurse manager so do appreciate quality of care and am happy to discuss any aspects of this with senior management. A coat of paint, remove horrid chairs, refresh and throw magazines, and sort disgusting carpet would help but please address politeness and respect first. M. Loxton

Review of Ward A2 written by a patient
11th December 2018

There simply was not enough staff to deal with the amount of patients. I was rushed to be discharged leaving without medication it took me 5 days to get. Midwife and support staff I encountered where stressed and did not have time to answer questions I had, i was only on the maternity ward a matter of hours but it was an awful experience

Review of Cardiac Rehabilitation - Bassetlaw written by a patient

A friendly team who put you at ease from day one and go on to help build confidence in your cardiac recovery and your realisation that yes there are changes to be made but with help and support life and your lifestyle doesn't need to be any different and can actually be improved with the perspective a cardiac event brings.

Review of ATC written by a patient
6th November 2018

This was a very busy ward, there were many changes in the patients in my 4 bedded ward, as they were sent to alternative wards, or discharged. The student nurse who completed my admission paperwork was kind and introduced herself. Throughout the night I was cared for by Health Care Assistants, who did not understand my condition. The trained nurses were too busy to engage in my care, which did not inspire confidence. I could not fault the medical team. The Registrar, Dr Rasheed, was excellent. Even though he was exhausted clerking me in at 1.30am he fully explained my medical situation and gave advice. I was very impressed with him. The whole medical firm, starting with Dr N Mallaband, to the discharging Registrar, Dr Iqbal were excellent, inspired confidence and were highly professional. I had complete confidence in them and they provided every opportunity to ask questions, even though they were so busy. This medical team cannot be faulted and I hope they teach and inspire new Drs to respect patients as they do. Finally, I was very impressed with the Nurse Practitioner, who saw me in Ambulatory Care the following day. Highly knowledgeable, respectful and took time to explain results. Above all the clinicians I mention above were very kind and put me at my ease. I felt very confident in their care.
