After moving into the maternity ward from the labour ward the care seemed to change, the day shift midwives on A2 we're brilliant. We were given the option to stay overnight to make sure our baby was feeding right & we had the correct support. Our baby threw up some brown mucus which was scary for us, being new parents. When we approached the night shift midwife, she basically told us my wife had a cracked nipple and she would come and look at our attachment soon she never came we had to Google what the mucus was being that my wife had only fed for a few hours, it couldn't have been a cracked nipple! We also asked for pain relief which didn't materialize! We had to wait until the morning for the day shift staff to answer our questions! A lovely midwifery support worker called Pam came and gave us all the help we had needed, this included confirming the mucus was nothing to worry about, showing us how to bathe our baby and generally answering all our wuestiond! She instantly put us at ease! If we had that care overnight we would have been completely happy!
