I joined the practice when Dr Milligan moved there from Loddon Vale and until July of this year my experience at the surgery had been fantastic. With happy and helpful staff who couldn't do enough to help you.
In July of this year I had a home birth and from then on the system and surgery have failed me.
As I had given birth at home no one had been passed my records therefore no one knew I was waiting for certain checks for both myself and my newborn.
The day after giving birth I had to call around to try and book an appointment for someone to see my baby for his newborn checks. I was passed from pillar to post - midwife - surgery - HV - Hospital - midwife, no one wanted to know or help. Finally my own midwife became involved and managed to get me an appointment at the surgery despite me being told by them earlier that it wasn't down to them to see me.
I had to take my newborn, at two days old, me also having stitches and breathing problems, to the surgery full of sick people, after my midwife had managed to find someone to see me. Despite having an appointment I was made to wait 40 mins before anyone came to tell me they couldn't find my son on their system. When I said they wouldn't as he was only two days old that threw them even further and again we were made to wait while they tried to find out what was happening. I was asked for his birth certificate (he's 2 days old!) and was then told the GP couldn't see me until he was registered so I had to sit and fill out forms so that someone could register him on the system so the GP could then see us! Over an hour after my initial appointment time we were finally seen. I was aghast at the huge failings here. The excuse - id had a home birth and so "slipped through the net".
I continued to have problems due to slipping through the net when it came to my 6 week check as apparently we still weren't "in the system" due to my home birth.
My home birth was fantastic and the NHS were amazing up to that point but from then on I feel I was grossly neglected and thoroughly let down.
It was a friendly experience.
For me getting my repeat scripts is difficult, the useful phone request has been abandoned so I have to get someone to deliver to the surgery, as well as collect. This all costs money for my help to do this for me.
Thank you for your positive ratings and the feedback. We have stopped taking verbal requests to improve safety and to avoid incorrect medication being prescribed - this is in line with recommended good practice. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you, however, you are able to order on-line and we are also able to send the prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy of your choice which will mean that you would not have to ask someone to deliver a request or collect a prescription - please ask for details in the surgery next time you visit. Alternatively, if you have no access to the internet many pharmacies will manage your medication requests for you. Please speak to your pharmacist to see if they offer this service. I hope this helps. Shaun Nicholson, Practice Business Manager
I attended two appointments today. One for my daughter and one for myself. Dr Joshi was extremely rude and dismissive and made me feel very uncomfortable. I visited the nurse Rachel for my own appointment and it was a huge contrast as she was so friendly and made me feel at ease.
Thank you for your ratings and feedback. I'm very sorry to hear of your recent experience. If you would like to contact the Assistant Practice Manager Rebecca Ruddlesden she will be happy to obtain some more details from you to enable us to look into this further. It is difficult to phone at 8am, the line is not open then and it is a question of just keep dialling.
