Lucky to belong to this surgery
I saw Nurse Mandy today for a Memory Test now that I am 81 and having some memory glitches.
Mandy is an exceptionally able person as I have known in past meetings. She combines great authority from being experienced with great thoughtfulness from her radiant humanity.
She found from my Memory Test that it had slightly improved from the last one and she explored carefully and patiently the answers I gave rather than just accepting the surface of my answers.
She has an inspiring way with her that always leaves me feeling better afterwards but she is fully conscientious at the same time not to minimise problems but to give me real help to improve and build my way out of them if at all possible.
Mandy is one of those key staff members who manage to make the NHS work so well for us despite the despicable starvation of funds it suffers from because of the vagaries of a system of National Politics that is ludicrously inept . She is a true Heroine!
My second meeting at this surgery in a day. Both brilliant!
That is brilliant on a routine basis, not an easy result to achieve in a well funded organisation but just miraculous in the cash-starved NHS.
Patford House gives me always outstanding care and contrasts with very average care received in past surgeries up to moving to Calne five years ago.
It’s standards of care are exceptional from a staff that never fails to go the extra mile for patients despite the inordinate pressures it faces from a financial NHS model that is virtually unworkable owing to very poor political support and lack of governmental courage to improve the Service fundamentally. The now retired senior partner Dr Harris and now his successor Dr Bowen show outstanding abilities both medically and in the management of the service here in Calne, so much so that I would be loathe to leave the town for a new practice elsewhere at my age of 81 to risk a new surgery to me.
This is a consistent experience of high quality throughout the practice over time and includes the very high standards of ALL the staff one encounters there. I’m a very luck patient to have the standards of an excellent traditional private practice at the costs to me of a ‘FREE’ service.
Reform of NHS financing is way way overdue and we are so lucky to have the care we do have despite all the obstacles of the current inadequate basis of its financing.
I went for a blood test today in respect of my immunotherapy treatment. I was seen on time and treated with kindness and consideration by the nurse. This has been my surgery for almost 20 years, the doctors and staff are caring and treat you with respect. In spite of the NHS going through unsettling times I have no complaints about my treatment here.
Aimi treated me excellently and did my blood test very efficiently.
