Got through to surgery on phone at third attempt.
If I need an appointment then I submit a triage form and receive a reply or an appointment the same day if required.
Recent appointment was inappropriate...not the receptionists fault, "doctors only see patients with a new problem. This is a recurrence you will have to see a nurse.". The appointment was then at another surgery. And then, "sorry but I cannot prescribe, you need to see a doctor". I wanted to discuss UTI prophylaxis.
It does not seem possible to simply have an appointment to discuss or speak with a doctor. It seems a doctor's time is more 'special' than his/her patients?
Always have a positive experience with the surgery. Can usually get an appointment when I need one, even if it does require going through 111 sometimes. You do see a nurse but the nurses are knowledgeable and will consult with a GP if needed, have seen Sarah the nurse a few times recently who has been brilliant. Majority of the reception staff are good. Ellen and Melanie on the phones in particular are both always understanding, kind and will go out of their way to help find a solution to my (sometimes many!) problems. 5 stars all round.
I can always get an appointment when I need one by phone
