It is not easy to get an appointment. The receptionist adviced to call at 8am to get one however I have on a call more than half an hour waiting for my call to be answered. Got disconnected and when I try again, I get told that no more appointments available for the day. Hence most times I have had to ring 111 to get a referral after having to go through a full assessment that is not necessary then ended up getting referred to a clinian who then send the referral. Other times we get referred to Kings Lynn Hospital or Peterborough urgent centre for care, which is still a far cry from Wisbech. All this causes frustration and delay in receiving treatment and makes me think sometimes if I need to look into a different Surgery or move out of the area in order to get a supportive, prompt and effective care?!

Suggested improvements
Appointment for same day should be made based on triaging the symptoms, severity and give considerations for young children and adult. And not just based on who called first! I will suggest this; Perhaps If possible, the Surgery can look into opening a few hours on the weekend as we know the nearest hospital or urgent treatment centre is not close by. This can help to reduce stress and not wishing to ‘not be unwell’ until weekdays as we can be rest assured that we will get a prompt care if anything happens during the weekend without having to travel far. By and Large, working in the health care industry is never easy. Thank you for looking after the Wisbech Community, you are wonderful, amazing and well appreciated for all you do!

Can never get an appointment when need to. I try not to even bother, because I know I won’t bet one or if I do it would be a waste of time as just get told “if not better in 2 weeks, come back” or “just take paracetamol” When my children do need to see someone there’s no appointments when I call at an appropriate time. I call 111 and then there is magically an appointment available. The last time I did manage to get my daughter to see someone, we was told there’s nothing wrong, however ended up in hospital as there clearly was something wrong. I will possibly consider going private as I always get the feeling that I’m wasting their time.

Time could be taken instead of just in and out. Doctors could give the impression that they actually care,

I have contacted the surgery on two occasions to request an urgent repeat prescription for extremely painful arm, neck and skull pain. Almost called an ambulance one evening. Out of painkillers and desperate to get some release. On neither occasion did i receive a repeat prescription. Fairbrother chemist told me on two occasions that they had not received a repeat prescription. They were also contacting doctors on my behalf. Still no joy and it will soon be 2 weeks since I sent the first request. Seriously thinking about changing to another practice. I have never been in so much pain, even with having had three childbirths, yet no help was forthcoming from North Brink Surgery. Terrible support.

Listened to me and sent a repeat prescription. Give support. I have not had the appointment come through for an ultrasound yet from hospital. Was this marked “Urgent” I wonder. The doctor knew my current situation assessed via an appointment with him. Now I am on holiday 3-10 August. Will something arrive before I go?
