16th November 2023

11th Nov - bed with flu & exacerbated asthma. 12th Nov - symptoms worse 13th Nov - Waited all day for North Brink to issue Ventolin 14th Nov - Emitted into A&E Queen Elizabeth 6am, placed on Nebulizer, 02 SATS 94%, BP 148/78, Pulse, 92. Chest Xray, Bloods, inconclusive. Diagnosis Flu exacerbated Asthma. This is not the first time I’ve had an issue with your appointment system that doesn’t work. You spend a good half an hour trying to get through, then you either get on the queue that then says you’re in the queue, or you then get the message that says there are no more appointments available for today, and this is all before 9am. On top of this I’m an asthmatic and to wait all day for a Ventolin that was marked up as urgent. I went into the surgery twice that day once to drop the prescription off and went back about 3 hrs later to see if it had been done. The pharmacy knew I was an asthmatic because I had explained this when dropping off the prescription. I know my asthma and ended up going to hospital on the following day and asking to go on a nebuliser.

Suggested improvements
I’m not blaming the surgery for giving me an asthma attack as the flu has caused this. 1. Difficulty in getting appointments 2. Can’t actually speak to somebody 3. Staff don’t understand conditions, allowing asthmatic going all day without medication.
