First a specific example. I asked the practice dispensary via email for a repeat prescription during the weekend and standard practice is that it would have been available for collection 2 working days later. In fact the medication was ready after only 24 hours and this made collection possible for an unprogrammed visit made on the offchance during a visit to Sherborne. This saved a special visit later in the week; so full marks for this.
More generally, I suffer from a number of conditions that make my health on the fragile side of good! As a result a cold usually affects my sinuses and then quite quickly my respiratory system. At the age of 76 this can give cause for concern. My nominated GP arranged for an appointment at short notice and the medication given as a result cleared up the condition over a 2 week period. Without such speedy assistance my condition would have been much worse.
I cannot commend the Newland Medical Practice highly enough for the way my health care is managed by the team in general (doctors, nurses, receptionists and dispenary staff)and by my nominated GP in particular.
Had an appointment to see Dr Seedy for the first time. He is a credit to the surgery, friendly but professional with an excellent bedside manner and very thorough. Probably one of the nicest doctors I've ever met.
Thank you very much for your feedback. I will pass this on to the Doctor.
The receptionists are friendly, accommodating and will work with you to meet your appointment needs.
Dr Grist is a great GP - he is very knowledgeable, however, will also tell you when he doesn't know something, which I find reassuring, and always discusses with me an inclusive treatment plan, which I like as I feel validated and involved - thank you.
Used the online booking system to book the appointment, which was easy to use.
The doctors are really nice and I think most of them do really care.
The problem is there are far too many patients
Normal reception staff are lovely but there is something very wrong with the repeat prescription gang in recent years since old good staff have left. Now they will hardly ever answer the phone to you in repeat prescriptions they just let it ring. This is well known to most people who use the so called service, I have actually tested this out a few times because I couldn't believe it, I rang on my mobile for ages outside the surgery because I had been trying to ring them for 2 days at home because my internet had not yet been connected due to house move, They were all in there not one of them would answer the phone. They told me as an excuse for this they wanted people to use the internet. Not everyone has the internet and more importantly they are being paid to provide a service which includes answering the phone. If I was in charge of them I would give them the sack. It is really bad and people should complain about it. Not let them get away with it. My family have lived here for generations and used this surgery quite happily but they are spoiling the service with bad attitude to work. I don't go to the doctors much only if I am really bad but I do have repeat prescriptions and they are a pest. sorry to put a downer on what would otherwise be a perfect place. So who ever can sort this out , sort it as it is way over due.
