The doctor I saw was really friendly, understanding and respected my experience and opinions. He helped me feel listened to after years of feeling brushed off or ignored. Thank you!

I have been registered at Langham Place surgery for over 10 years, and this time last year, I would have given this surgery 5/5. However, recently, and since the surgery has introduced Doctor Link (an online assessment) which you need to complete before you are able to get a same day appointment, the steps you need to go through to get an appointment are outrageous. If you contact the surgery without having completed Doctor Link, the receptionists refuse to speak to you. On a recent occasion, my wife came down with the flu. She could not get out of bed and I was worried about her (as she is also asthmatic). I completed Doctor Link (as instructed on the phone) and answered some very bizarre questions (like, how many breaths is the patient taking???). The outcome of this survey was to see a doctor within 2 hours so I proceeded to call the surgery. After waiting 45 minutes for someone to answer, I gave up. I contacted NHS 111 who advised that my wife needed to see a GP, so, once again, I tried to call my surgery. After 50 minutes, a receptionist answered and I managed to secure the appointment. My concerns are around the Doctor Link system. My wife was in no position to complete the online form and, in my opinion, even some of the questions needed a medical professional to make an assessment. This is simply not good enough - if you are feeling unwell enough that you feel you need to see a doctor, you should not have additional hurdles put in your way. My mother who was visiting at the time from Surrey was appalled by the system that we have to go through to get a doctors appointment. Interestingly, when we were at the GP surgery, I did notice that a number of back office staff were working on their computers and ignoring the telephone that were constantly ringing - perhaps this is why I had to wait so long for my call to be answered as they now simply can not be bothered to answer them. I must say though that, when you see a doctor or nurse at this surgery, they are simply fantastic. They are very caring and listen to your concerns. Please remove the Doctor Link system. Please consider those patients who are unable to complete the online form (the elderly and those who are too ill to complete it).
