Whilst the staff have always been polite enough, it is extremely difficult to get an appointment if it is not 'urgent'. When I do get an appointment I rarely see the same GP as my previous appointment, despite having a long-term physical illness, and I feel I would benefit from the continuity. Due to this, I have to relay my medical history EVERY time I see a different doctor, despite my medical records being in front of them (even if I have seen them before and a different doctor in between!) This takes precious time during the appointment. There is one doctor this does not apply to who actually offered constructive advice and showed empathy, rather than giving me a prescription and getting me out as quickly as possible. I have also had conflicting advice from different GPs, as well as conflicting information when I have called the reception staff. Despite a referral being made for me to see a consultant in November, this was not actioned by a GP at the surgery until the middle of January. When I called reception to chase this up and request a number for the relevant department of the consultant, I was given a number which directed me to a psychiatric unit (to clarify, this was not the relevant department). Before November I have not had any issues, however, I have since felt extremely let down by the surgery and I feel the service provided has hindered my recovery, and has added unnecessary stress to an already difficult and worrying time.
