Dr Ahene and Dr Hunt very kind and helpful, waiting list for hospital not their fault. Reception unhelpful at times, don't care for the appointments system.

No-one enjoys being unwell or "wants" to visit the Doctors' but all in all I have never had a bad experience at the surgery. The staff are helpful and my GP is always understanding and never judgemental . Unfortunately, it is not always possible to see your Doctor "on the day" but if really necessary I have been able to talk to my Doctor on the phone to be assessed , I hope this facility continues.

I always have a sense of gratitude when I hear others speak of their GP services which seem to have declined in the last couple of years and when I think of mine. The Devon Road Surgery is well run, I have been a patient of Dr Hunt for many years and have been fortunate to have built a relationship of trust for myself and my family. When a doctor is not available others practice doctors are, and again they have been established for many years - that is what makes a great practice patient experience - when you are not feeling great knowing you can discuss it with a doctor you know and can trust. I value the fact that I can also put in a telephone call request to speak with my doctor, and that works very well. I have even had the opportunity to speak directly to my GP whilst abroad for some advice on a medical matter that was getting increasingly serious. The nurses are brilliant - knowledgable, pragmatic, friendly and listening with purpose, not in a chatty sort of way, I am sure that their capability in what they do is of extreme importance in keeping the doctors appointments "balanced". The reception runs smoothly, and being a receptionist in a busy surgery is an art in itself. You can usually tell when there are people new to the role, so good training of the process is essential as reception is the first point of contact. I am not able to use the pharmacy due to the location in where I live, I believe this is an NHS procedure, but still can't fathom how it would be more effective in cost savings for anybody. One thing I do notice which again is not surgery specific is the process for getting appointments for hospital referrals, information from a to b in an effective way.. so much paper, so many additional phone calls. If the NHS want to find model GP practices they should include a representative from here to be in their think tank.
