I took my daughter to the surgery today as requested via a letter from the surgery for her pre-school immunisations. We waited 20 minutes passed our appointment time to be seen, as you can imagine its quite an anxious wait for a 3 year old who is told they have to have an injection so waiting 20 minutes extra was quite unsettling for her. I was so shocked and utterly discusted at how the injection was administered and how non child friendly the nurse was who.administered it. She did not clean my daughters arm prior to either injection and she stabbed the needle in her little arm so hard it was like she was was stabbing a piece of meat for slaughter. I did question this and she.said it has to be done that way as it has to go into the muscle....she almost drove he needle into bone let alone the muscle. She showed no sympathy for my daughter. My daughter sobbed for nearly an hour after the immunisations and the amount of bleeding was extreme. We have never had this kind of experience with immunisations before over the past 3 years. I have taken advice today from another nurse who has confirmed that this is not the correct proceedure of administering the injections. So please do not respond.to me saying the practice of the nurse was correct as it clearly was not. This experience today will make it even harder to get my daughter to have immunisations in the future....big thanks for that. I will make sure we go somewhere else in future or if we are given the same nurse i will refuse her immunising my daughter..
