I saw the GP on Monday having tried daily for almost two weeks. He suggested I need a blood test to check my thyroid levels as it had according to the notes been two years since I had one. I pointed out that I had undergone a total thyroidectomy in September last year and there was nothing on my notes to suggest this. I asked the receptionist for an appointment for a blood test on leaving the surgery and I got a cancellation for the next day! If I had not the next available phlebotomy appointment would have been the end of the month. Obviously it is very important to check my thyroxine levels as I do not now produce my own. The phlebotomist was lovely, very efficient and reassuring.
