My husband has been trying for a few weeks to get an appointment. Although he rings at 8, he is usually told that he is beyond 30 in the queue. He has now given up and I dread needing an appointment as I can see how difficult it is. I appreciate that there has been a fair amount of staff sickness.

Suggested improvements
I think that perhaps there could be two opportunities a day for appointments-a morning appointment which needs to be made at 8am onwards and a second bite at the cherry with phone lines open from 1 to 1.30 for an afternoon appointment. At least this way patients would not be left feeling helpless that they have missed out for another day. This system worked well at my last surgery which had a similar number of patients.
