I had a hearing appointment at Specsavers on Monday, I was told I would qualify for NHS hearing aids but would need to be referred by my doctor, I visited Middleton, the receptionist said she knew nothing about doing that, she spoke to other members of staff then told me I had to visit the surgery so a nurse could check for wax (even though I said I had just been told by a specialist that my ears were clean and there was no wax) I visited the surgery at Yapton and saw a delightful nurse who said I had no wax at all, I asked what I should now do to get my hearing aids, she did not know but promised she would look into it . I have since received a message saying a doctor was dealing with it. My concerns are that nobody seems to know what to do to refer me for hearing aids and also a bit concerned that I have to visit a nurse so she can check for wax when I had just seen a specialist who said I had no wax in my ears. I felt as if I was told to do this because nobody at Middleton knew what to do ! It's a pity because the standard of service is normally excellent

Be more knowledgeable on this subject and not just send me off to see a nurse with the comments on my notes “check ears”
