The help you received was inconsistent depending on who was on the phone. If seeking a resolution about something it is impossible without booking an appointment with a GP despite it being unnecessary and taking up valuable appointment times. For example, being prescribed medication by a hospital specialist but needing to see a nurse and a GP in order for this to be done and then it not being added to my repeat and then having to physically see a GP for it to be added. Another example is that a hospital specialist advised that as a type 1 diabetic, weight loss injections would be a far more effective and less dangerous route than Bariatric surgery and that the GP will prescribe these under the local CCG guidelines (as I am diabetic) and the receptionist made it quite difficult to book an appointment as they said the surgery will not prescribe them. Just feels there is a lack of consistency across all care and it is a waste of time and resources.

Suggested improvements
Those working in healthcare should listen first before making decisions or jumping the gun on things. Cross examination between care providers, specialists, GP’s etc so that there is not misinformation or things being missed from each department. Providing empathy and compassion to people with disabilities and chronic illnesses and understanding how a decision you make impacts those people in quite detrimental ways.
