This was prescribed for me when I was diagnosed a gastric ulcer in 2009, after 3 months the ulcer closed but it was decided to keep me on this medication as I was also found to have Gastric Reflux,Hiatus Hernia & Diverticulitis, I take it before breakfast daily & have no problems with the medication. Unfortunately in 2012 I was diagnosed with infected gall bladder, swollen & full of stones, this was removed Jan 2013, I was told to continue with all medication which I will list at the end of these notes. I was still having issues after gall bladder removed, it was found I had stones in my bile duct, this was attended to in March 2013 & I am still having abdominal problems & pain. Meds:- Omeprazole 20mg daily,Buscopan 10mg B.D.,Ranitidine 150mg P.R.N, Cylizine 50mg T.D.S & MST Continous 10mg B.D(For Chronic Osteo-Arthritis)

I take Omeprazole for acid reflux and without it I feel nauseous, so yes this tablet is very effective, I have suffered from no side effects that I am aware of and it definately helps me.

I have noticed no side effects from this medication and have no stomach problems at the moment, so I presume it does what it says on the leaflet.

Profile

Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
