I had a cough that took 20 years to diagnose but it ceased when I began to take the pills. I stopped taking them after a few years and the cough has not recurred.

I was on OMEPRAZOLE for antral gastritis for over 2 years and whilst it helped with the gastritis pain, I started to wonder if the joint pains I had were due to taking this medication, so I gradually stoped taking it by reducing dose and then stopped altogether, my joint pains improved within 2 weeks of stopping, but the biggest and most shocking thing was I thought I had developed cataracts, as my sight had deteriorated drastically to the point where my husband wouldn't let me drive, but I was shocked to find that within 2 Weeks of stopping omeprazole i could see clearly again, so I would never ever take them again for long term maybe only for short term use.

Profile

Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
