Some 40 odd years ago I developed a kidney stone which, after a visit to Harley Street, was successfully dealt with. To prevent further problems Allopurinol was prescribed but, unfortunately, the daily dose of 300mg proved far too high and indeed went on for far too long. It has been suggested this has been the cause for my now being on dialysis, having severely damaged kidneys. However one cannot be too critical, for presumably, at that time it was considered the correct dosage. On the brighter side over the years I have had bouts of gout but on the whole this has been kept at bay doubtless by this medicine. I am not aware of any side effects but it is for the above reason I feel I can only give a two star rating.
