Thanks seems totally inadequate for a surgeon who's approach to my concerns was met with absolute confidence in his ability to improve my future mobility. His assessment of my problems was clearly understood. Having had numerous orthopaedic surgeries as a result of Polio, I have no hesitation in recommending him to any future patients. A remarkable man.

Mr Shah is an excellent surgeon. He is kind and compassionate, he is always ready to listen to your concerns and answers your questions allowing the patient to make informed decisions. I have had two hip replacements and recovered well from both surgeries. The wound(s) healed amazingly quickly. For both surgeries I had spinal anathesia due to other health issues and Mr Shah saw the whole recovery period through and visits you pre and post surgery. During consultations, x rays and procedures are explained, at both pre and post surgery check ups in a way that enables patients to understand their situations. As I have complex medical issues surgery was a major decision for me and at no time was I ever put under any pressure but listened to with empathy. Whilst I needed both hips replacing, my second surgery was two years later. ( My choice.) Having faith in Mr Shah’s skills, abilities, and understanding enabled me to trust him and proceed with the surgery which at times were difficult decisions. The whole surgical procedures progressed by way of further input from my other Consultants I am under and input from colleagues to gain ‘fit for surgery’ criteria. Due to the total hip replacements, I have now been able to come off strong opioid medicines that I have been taking for many many years. Thank you. Whilst mobility is an issue for me I am free of the dreadful hip and knee pain that I had been suffering, but I am able to move around indoors with a walker. I am sure the professional and caring approach Mr Shah radiates to all patients and colleagues is a blessing to all. Thank you Mr Shah and God Bless you. I am very grateful to Guy’s and the NHS for the care I receive from the teams of professionals who manage my health conditions and continue to do so. Linda Murdoch

I'm 71 years old. Having suffered with Arthritis in both knees since I was 40, I was reluctant to have knee surgery, because back then some hospitals did knee cap replacements, whilst others did total knee replacements, but I'd also heard so many horror stories I was scared. However and moving on over 20 years of suffering I asked to be referred to hospital, basically because my knees literally went on me. And now today (19 Jan 2018), having had my 1 year check up with Mr Shah, for my left knee (op was Jan 2017), and also he looked at my right knee which was done by Mr Dunn (Feb 2016), 2 years ago. I'm amazed how wonderful everything is. It wonderful to walk without pain, and infact walk over the park, go up stairs and do many things I haven't been able to do for years and years. Obviously I need to keep up my walking to strengthen my muscles, but both operations have been a huge success. Most importantly Mr ZAMEER Shah, Knew I was scared and put me to ease every step of the way. Just like he does with all his patients. A great big thank you to him, for his excellent surgery which has given me a new lease of life. Godbless Mrs J P Eastlake

I was fortunate enough to find Mr Shah on duty at St Thomas' Hospital A& E when I arrived there, having fractured the neck of my left hip (after flipping into the air while push-scootering) en route to see the local osteopath, ironically, about my right hip. Mr Shah diagnosed that the fracture had shifted so far, it could not be repaired but required imediate Total Hip Replacement surgery. 21 months later and I am 6 weeks-on from the replacement of the other hip that I had originally hoped the osteopath could fix, but which Mr Shah had confirmed had such extensive damage that it couldn't be 'patched up'. This time around, as an elective patient, recovery has been even quicker; I was fully off-crutches, back at the gym, and cycling within about three weeks. The pre-op preparation at Guys Hospital was very efficient and thorough, and post-op, a well-stitched up/quick-healing wound, and physio session helped greatly. Today I saw Mr Shah for my 6-week follow up; we viewed x-rays, and had a good and useful discussion. Mr Shah even advised me on an issue I have with previous unicondylar knee-op, offering to fix it if/when necessary. For me, as a keen sportsperson, Mr Zameer Shah will be my go-to hip/knee 'Mr Fixit', I hope, for as long as I need him! Hip-Hip!

Mr Shah and Nasha were a great team. They helped me pick the right time to decide when the hip pain was enough to merits the risks of an operation, looking back I feel confident we choose the right time. They were very helpful when, just after the op, I was worried my leg was swelling too much, it wasnt. After the operation I felt very little pain and after a week was able to walk around without crutches, the following week i returned to my part time sedentary job. I thinks I was helped by good quality surgery and a bit of luck. After 6 weeks I was able to drive a card and commute daily to work on my bicycle (4 miles). The Physio exercises, were hard to do intially, but building the muscles seemed to help hold the joint painlessly. What an amazing service to have for free. In some countries this could cost £50,000 to £100,000. It was also great to know that all the judgements taken were never tainted by the possibility of making more money by intervening too much.
