Mr Zameer Shah was the surgeon who along with his team replaced my hip on the 3rd of July 2023. My first consultation with him was a few months previous to my operation at Guys Hospital , London as an NHS patient. At the time I was in very, very significant pain. During this consultation Mr Shah interpreted my X-Ray results meticulously in a non-patronising manner identifying the precise areas of Hip Joint damage following which he confirmed the need for surgery. Mr Shah answered ALL my questions with clarity whilst demonstrating with a skeletal model how the new joint would function and why. This demonstration was extremely important to me as it included me more fully into the process leading up to my operation. On July 3rd I entered Blackheath Hospital as an NHS patient. Pre surgery Mr Shah repeated the benefits(and potential risks)of the procedure with impeccable clarity. My operation was declared entirely successful and within 2 days discharged. Within 10 days I dispensed with one crutch , in two both crutches. I've now been walking unaided and vigourously for 6 weeks. I've returned to swimming daily and within the last few day begun cycling. As a result? I have regained my confidence , my optimism and my freedom. My deepest thanks to Mr Shah , to Mr Shah and his team!!!!

From start to finish was extremely happy with Mr Shah, he was very approachable and no question was too trivial. He explained everything to me and put me at ease. You could see his delight when only after 3 weeks I returned for an out patient appointment with no limp, no pain and no walking aides. Mr Zameer Shah replaced two of my hips in July 2022. He was courteous and friendly. Before the operation he explained in detail what was involved and the choices open to me. I was very pleased that he was willing to replace both hips in one go. Before the operation I could only hobble short distances with considerable pain. The operation was a complete success and has transformed my life. Recovery was remarkably quick and surprisingly painless. (The only problem was that my stomach was upset by opiates given to me immediately after the operation. I had never had opiates before so this could not have been predicted). The wounds healed quickly with no infections. Within one month I was able to walk without a stick and now I can enjoy walking holidays of 10 miles plus in a day, not to mention many shorter walks in an active life. A great success and I am most grateful to Mr Shah and his team Guys.

After being under the care of Mr George, his recent departure meant that I was passed on to Mr Shah. Right from the off, he was open, friendly, welcoming and with an invaluable trait - a sense of humour. He didn't rely on my notes, the consultation began with Mr Shah asking ME why I was there, listening carefully to the whole story of the past 6 years since my issues began. He also explained, from an old x ray, what has caused a problem I have had for 40 years! Wow! I have total confidence that when my surgery comes, I couldn't be in better hands. How fortunate to have been referred to Guys and to TWO incredible people willing to help me. Thank you Mr Shah, really grateful. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr Shah

I am an over the knee amputee, due to bone cancer, and had warn out my other hip from 40 year's of wearing an artificial limb so I had to find the best surgeon to get me mobile again. Meeting Mr Shah was a delight as he saw clearly my predicament and the importance of having a new stable hip so I could walk again. He was professional, kind and clear, which gave me confidence in his abilities, which have been proven correct, as the day after I was able to stand on the operated leg (my only leg). I'm very grateful to him. The fact that he visited me on the ward, with an x-ray of the new hip. He has subsequently has seen me for a follow up appointment, which has all given me the assurity that I've been in safe hands. Thoroughly recommended. Clare Price
