Mr. Zameer Shah from the outset was extremely approachable, friendly and reassuring. He did not rush me and was happy to answer my questions. The two nurses in attendance were also very helpful. I saw Mr Shah at Guys and not only did I feel I was in very expert hands I also felt (once you are in the system) Guys has an efficient system in place. Once it was decided that I needed knee replacement surgery I was placed on the waiting list and it was a matter of several months waiting. The operation went well, the nursing care in Sarah ward was superb the nurses were caring, compassionate as well as efficient. The sister said when recruiting she looks for those particular characteristics as well as excellent skill sets. I requested to see Mr. Shah for my follow-up as I wanted to find out more details of my op as well as to thank him. He was again so easy to talk to and gave me details of my op showing me the Xrays taken at the time. By the way I have an excellent scar! I feel very fortunate to have had such skilled treatment on NHS. The only downside was the fact that on the ward two patients were using mobile phones 24/7 with their loudspeakers on. That made recovery difficult. Maybe I had lost my appetite but I didn't find the food very appetising.
