I really can’t thank Mr Alazzawi enough for giving me my life back! I had a bad fall a few years ago and had increasingly severe problems with my hip as a result. Walking was extremely painful and also physically difficult as the hip just did not want to work in the right way! I did a course of Physiotherapy and then Hydrotherapy but nothing seemed to have any lasting effect. By the end I was in almost constant pain, always exhausted, and feeling increasingly overwhelmed. Looking back, I can’t quite believe I was able to endure it. I was eventually referred to Mr Alazzawi last autumn and together we decided that a Total Hip Replacement was the best option for me. Throughout this whole journey he was very approachable and down-to-earth, explained everything clearly and in very easy to understand terms, and I didn’t feel intimidated to ask him questions. I had the operation in January at Epsom Hospital and was discharged the following day. It was all a very smooth process and despite some initial discomfort, I am now almost totally back to normal again - it’s amazing! (I also have a very neat scar!) I would definitely recommend Mr Alazzawi if you require a hip replacement - you’ll be in very safe hands.

I had my knee replacement surgery on 29 January 2022. Mr Alazzawi is a delightful surgeon, excellent at his job and very caring. I am very happy with the result of the surgery he carried out on my knee. I wish him future success in his work so that he continues to help others.

I have Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia , Lymphoedema and have had Cancer surgery. I was told that it was unlikely I would get an operation for a knee replacement because of these conditions. However my GP referred me to St George’s Hospital and I was fortunate to be seen by Mr Alazzawi. The pain in my right knee was seriously impacting on my life, limiting my options. The surgery went without a hitch and all the team were calm and reassuring throughout. On reviewing the X-rays post-op Dr Alazzawi noted that the other knee needed replacing. Covid 19 restrictions, two cancellations and then a urine/kidney infection preventing the third attempt ( at the door of the theatre!) meant some distress. Throughout the delays he and his staff were exemplary in their care and empathy with my situation. My co-morbidities together with being overweight put me into a higher risk category. After five days of Lymphoedema bandaging to reduce post-op swelling, my operation went ahead. At every stage of my time in hospital(almost three weeks) Dr Alazzawi and his whole team were superb. The situation and possible complications were explained thoroughly and every question was responded to with patience and kindness. A team is often only as good as its leader and it was evident at the bedside that his attitude permeated the entire team. Those who are fortunate to be able to pay for private treatment can get no better service than available from Dr Alazzawi on the NHS. We are fortunate that Doctors like him exist within the often maligned service. On review today I was told that X-rays show that the surgeries were a success and progress was good. I had heard such horror stories about knee replacements and after effects that initially I was very apprehensive about surgery. Yes, it is a painful operation and rehabilitation is only as good as the effort that is put in. I have some residual pain which is lessening and is also related to my other conditions. I only hope that if I ever need any more surgery on knees or hips I am fortunate enough to be able to get someone as good as Dr Alazzawi. With grateful thanks.

Suleman Alazzawi A simple fall on black Ice resulted in a transfer from my local hospital Darenth. Valley to St George’s for major surgery on a smashed acetabulum and broken hip , complications with infection and a failed attempt to remove the infected metal plate left me in agonising and crippling pain for 6 years. I was referred to Mr Alazzawi for complicated total hip replacement and infection treatment which he expertly carried out with impressive diligence and Success. After years of pain and frustration I am finally getting my life back and would like to publicly thank him for not only his professional excellence but the way in which he dealt with me on a personal level throughout this very challenging period of my life. His empathy, care and enthusiasm for his role are something I will always admire and remember , we are so lucky to have him working for us here in the NHS. Many many thanks

After many years of pain from a previous hip replacement Mr Alazzawi and the team at SLWEOC Epsom performed a revision replacement. This was a more serious operation than the normal hip replacement especially taking place during the Covid epidemic. It has been more successful than I could have imagined. My aftercare and subsequent visits to the St George’s clinic have taken place in a calm and cheerful manner and I thank all the team and Mr Alazzawi
