This was a follow up to a previous total knee replacement which continues to cause pain A small bone fragment is thought to be the cause. Hopefully the use of my exercise bike or if not a wash out will dislodge/remove it so IO can get back on with my life. Thanks for listening and seeing me so quickly under the NHS

Thank you very much for this feedback. Sadly not every patient undergoing knee replacement has a good recovery.. I am pleased that you felt I listened to your ongoing concern. With kind regards Simon Ellis

Mr Ellis made me feel very confident about the whole procedure, the treatment I was given was second to none, Mr Ellis phoned my wife to tell her everything went well and I was in recovery. By the time I went back to see him 2 weeks after the operation, I could walk without aid, he said I should be fully recovered by 3 months. Brilliant surgeon and nice bloke. Beautiful hospital, and friendly staff.

I have now had both my knees replaced by Mr Ellis, one as a private patient and one as an NHS patient. As a farmer I have lead a very physical life and a first knee replacement at 59 was quite a daunting prospect for me. The first replacement happened a year ago and was a total success, although I did have a surface wound infection which Mr Ellis took charge of immediately and through his very attentive care was successfully cleared up. Getting back to work in good time was extremely important to me and I have been amazed at the performance of my new knee in the last year, especially as I cycle as a hobby when time allows. Within the last week I have had my other knee replaced, this time on the NHS. On my first operation date Mr Ellis sent me home as I had 2 small wounds on my knee that had not healed and presented too much of a risk of infection, I must admit that I was quite deflated at the prospect of having to wait additional time for the operation, not least because of the impact on my business of having to have it later in the year. I think that Mr Ellis realised that timing was critical for me and managed to fit me in within 2 weeks of initially sending me home. Care to date has been equally good and my thanks must also go to the other members of the theatre team and the nursing staff who have looked after me so well.

Thank you very much for this review, it is very much appreciated. Managing timing for a procedure for each patient is often vital and therefore knowing the plan and timescale from the outset is very important. Thankfully I am able to offer fixed timing for all patients once a decision to proceed with surgery has been agreed between us. With kind regards Simon Ellis

Mr Simon Ellis: A very kind and considerate surgeon who explained, very tactfully, my procedure of right knee replacement before surgery and kindly telephoned my Partner at home shortly after I left the theatre to explain that "all went completely as planned and that I am now back in my room and comfortable". He also spoke to me personally in the recovery room; a conversation I really appreciated, especially as he had a further operation to perform straight away. All in all, a very pleasant experience, under the circumstances, of course.
