Mr Ellis was so caring and patient with me. He explained all the options I had to choose from but left the decision up to me. I chose to have an operation for a knee replacement and he explained very fully all the aspects this would involve. I had so much confidence in him. He answered all my queries and I was not at all rushed - he was so patient.

Thank you very much for your review. It is so important that every patient feels that they have the opportunity to discuss treatment options fully and understand the risks and benefits as well without any feeling of pressure. I am delighted that you felt I achieved all of that for you. With kind regards Simon Ellis

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but I must say Mr Ellis has been really fantastic from start to finish, as has his practice manager Victoria Smith and KIMS physiotherapist Ian Dawson. Mr Ellis is approachable, incredibly knowledgeable and will spend as much time as is needed making sure that you understand your care options, what to expect from treatment and recovery and ensuring you are supported throughout the process. He has made himself accessible for any and all concerns following my surgery via his very responsive practice manager, Victoria. I initially saw Mr Ellis years ago when I was 17 and experiencing knee dislocations on the left side as a result of hypermobile joints. This was treated conservatively, and I had no need for surgical treatment or intervention at that time. In August 2018 I experienced what felt like a pretty serious dislocation on my right knee. It didn’t “look” serious, and as such I was fobbed off by A&E and told by my GP it would just be a soft tissue injury. It was becoming increasing painful, and so I looked up Mr Ellis to see if he was still practicing locally as he had been so helpful before. I called his office and booked an appointment to see him in around a week. To cut a long story short, I had an MPFL reconstruction, the damaged parts of my kneecap filed smooth and a lateral release in October 2018. It was a difficult and unpredictable recovery as can be expected with this particular operation, but 6 months on I feel that the long slog of recovery has been totally worth it. I had paid for a ‘package’ including a number of follow up appointments, but Mr Ellis has provided additional appointments and made it clear that the goal is recovery and not just offering a set number of reviews. He was also incredibly empathetic with my concerns around scarring, as standard incisions would have cut through the facial area of a full shin tattoo that I have and caused damage that would have been difficult to repair. As a result he made my incisions in a location that would be appropriate surgically and aesthetically and I am very pleased with the outcome. Sadly my left knee is starting to deteriorate and I will be undergoing further investigative tests, but I must say this is a far less concerning prospect than it would normally be as I know that whatever the outcome is Mr Ellis and his team will provide me with excellent care.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. I have passed your comments on to both Victoria and Ian. I am so lucky to have such a great team. Medial patello femoral ligament reconstruction to stabilise the patella is always hard in terms of early post operative rehabilitation but putting lots of effort into rehab is vital to a good outcome. With kind regards Simon Ellis
