When I met Mr Ellis for an appointment for my ongoing painful right knee at Kims Hospital, he was very welcoming and a calming influence. He took great care to ensure that he had all of my medical information to date, and talked me through all of my options. I made it clear that I really didn't want an operation at this stage, and he was very helpful in suggesting that I could have an injection in my knee. He discussed the procedure and told me what to expect. He was also able to do my procedure in exactly fourteen days. I was seen as a National Health patient and I would have had to wait for months if I hadn't been referred to Mr Ellis at Kims Hospital. He dictated the letter he was going to send to my doctor, in my presence which was very reassuring. Fourteen days later I attended Kims Hospital for Mr Ellis to inject cortisone into my knee. He was his usual welcoming self, and as promised, the procedure was completed very quickly, and I could return home almost before I could blink! Within 2-3 days I could feel that the injection had started to take effect and it was better than it had been for years. I was called back to see Mr Ellis for a review on the 20th January, and although very slight discomfort has started we agreed that it was preferable to wait and see. The only downside was that as I wanted to wait a little longer for another injection, it couldn't be done again at Kims (due to agreed instructions) but it would be possible to continue with the three annual injections at my surgery, or by referral by my doctor. All in all I was very pleased to have been referred to Mr Ellis at Kims Hospital and I wouldn't hesitate to use this type of service again. Thank you very much Mr Ellis.

Response from Mr Simon Ellis

Thank you very much for your feedback which is very kind. It is a real pleasure to be able to treat NHS patients in the independent sector. Sadly the CCG guidelines limit the extent of follow up hence the need to refer you back to your GP at that point. With kind regards Simon Ellis
