I want to give my thanks to Mark Edwards and his team following my discharge from his care a week ago. On June 21st I was admitted to Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton for an open AAA operation. My admission followed my aorta measuring 5.6cm and helpful consultations, where the merits on an open operation were fully explained by Mr Edwards. The admission procedure was smooth and the nurses and anaesthetist were more than kind and explained what was going to happen and what I could expect. In all, the preoperation experience left me feeling totally at ease and fully trusting the medical staff. Post operation I was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital and the views from the window were outstanding! The ward is on the 8th floor with panoramic views of Brighton seafront. I was in this Unit for 4 days and the level of care was exemplary, the nursing staff were so kind and attentive. I would particularly like to thank Milly who was so kind, professional and empathetic. I saw Mr Edwards daily and was informed about all the next steps in recovery daily. From the penthouse suite of the Intensive Care Unit I was transferred to the Vascular ward where the level of care was equally as good but the views less inspiring. Such wonderful professional care does not just happen - it is due in the main to inspired leadership that permeates throughout the organisation. I am sure that Mark Edwards sets the parameters that others are proud to follow. If anyone who is reading this is concerned or worried about the operation I hope that these comments put your mind at rest.
