Very good empathy with the patient.
Made a very considered and precise diagnosis of the problem with good explanation.
Surgery was first class with excellent outcome.
Provided good encouragement and moral support throughout.
As a self-employed carpenter having my hip replacement has given me the ability to continue with my work and be able to look forward to my walking holidays in Scotland pain free once more.
I was very nervous about the procedure but I always felt I was in safe hands with Mr Hutchinson and his team and the outcome was a good one.
He is caring, listens and is very professional. He replaced my hip and I had no problems.
The relief from pain was wonderful.
I first met Jim in November 2017 with a right hip problem. After a detailed and frank discussion I was advised that my hip needed replacement. I had this done in January 2018 at the Nuffield Hospital Derby and was successfully discharged after 2 nights in hospital. My full recovery, aided by the physiotherapists at the Nuffield, took 5/6 months in total before I became "unaware" of the replacement hip.
I have just had a follow up x-ray and consultation with a Jim (22/1/19), which has confirmed all is in order and that it should now last for at least 10-15 years without trouble.
Whilst admitting that this was my first time in hospital for anything so major and "frightened to death!", my experience with Jim and his team was superb from start to finish. Having been given his name as a recommendation from a close friend I would do the same for anyone else and certainly give the same confident recommendation to anyone else who needed orthopedic surgery.
The outcome of my right knee replacement is excellent 5 weeks after the operation, although still suffering pain in the upper leg at night. I cannot fault the attention I was given whilst at the Royal Derby, but I was discharged with a medication list which did not contain the Tramadol pain killer that I had been administered during the four days I was in The Royal Derby. I suffered really badly especially at night time as a result of this mistake until I was able to obtain some Tramadol a week after.
All is well now.
