I was understandably nervous of having a full right hip replacement but hardly had any choice in the matter as I was at the stage of having to use a wheelchair to leave the house. I asked to be fully unconscious for the operation, which happened, then a nurse said it was time to wake up & I immediately did with no grogginess or feeling sick. I felt great but tired. I had no pain or soreness whatsoever. I had two and a half days in hospital with excellent care and I can honestly say I felt no need for painkillers so only had them on the 1st day, then managed with ibuprofen/paracetamol. I was off crutches within a week. I felt completely recovered within 6 weeks and now, 15 weeks on I am walking as good as I did 10 years ago. The hip does let me know if I overdo it as it feels a bit like jelly but no pain.( just the muscle overworked). I can’t thank Mr Hutchinson enough for giving me back my quality of life, my confidence free from depression and free of pain from my hip and back. I would fully recommend Mr Hutchinson for surgery. He is my saviour.
