When my 27-year-old artificial hip broke in January 2019, my GP initially referred me to a specialist in knee surgery. After obtaining a list of practitioners who specialise in hip surgery in Derby and Nottingham from my insurance company, I cross-referenced this list with the National Joint Registry. Jim Hutchinson came out top of this list. In mid-March 2019, I underwent surgery to replace my broken artificial hip - this was not entirely straightforward as I had had hip problems since birth. Only 5 weeks after my operation, I am pain-free, able to move my leg well and weight-bearing with two crutches. Already, I feel able to care for my family and home again as well as return to work. Jim Hutchinson is a very approachable, easy to talk to surgeon who is extremely talented. For the first time for as long as I can remember, my legs are pretty much the same length as each other - no mean feat. To put it simply, I cannot recommend Jim Hutchinson highly enough.
