After a number of years of pain/discomfort & injections in my right hip Mr Shepard and his excellent team carried out a full hip replacement operation on my right hip. I was admitted into Euxton Hall Hospital on Tuesday the 5th of November and prior to the operation Mr Shepard came to see me to explain what was going to be happening that day and to re assure me. I was taken down to theatre at 10:00 am, I was back in my bed on the ward at 12:15pm pain free. Mr Shepard visited me at 7:00pm that evening to explain that he was happy with the way my operation had gone and to make sure I felt comfortable. The nurses had me out of bed and standing by 8:00pm the same evening with very little discomfort. After a peaceful nights sleep the Physiotherapist got me up and taught me how to use my crutches and suggested I practice with them until I was confident walking. The Physio explained they would show me how to use them on the stairs the following morning. Mr Shepard visited again that day and had a look at my hip to check everything was as it should be, following the examination he explained that providing the X-ray (which was due to be taken that afternoon) showed that all was well I could probably go home the following day. Having mastered the stairs on my crutches the Physio agreed I was ready to go home. I returned home on Thursday after two days in hospital and have never looked back, walking and exercising every day as prescribed. I had my staples removed after two weeks and the wound had healed exceptionally well, the nurse was very impressed. I can't praise Mr Shepard enough for his excellent treatment and reassuring bedside manner throughout the whole process. During my follow up appointment Mr Shepard took his time to show me my X-rays (before & after) and explained the positive outcome of my operation in detail. I was very apprehensive of the procedure prior to the operation but Mr Shepard made it a positive and more importantly a pain free experience. Thank you Mr Shepard for your care and expertise.
