I popped to Lewisham A&E as I had a hernia. I had to have an operation immediately after Dr. Janakan viewed X-Rays and carried out an examination of the protrusion. He explained very clearly to me that he was concerned that my bowel was potentially going to be strangled by the hernia, or it may be just fat. Whatever it may be he recommended immediate surgery. He then explained the procedure in clear detail and the possibilities of what may happen when I was operated on - either some fat had become trapped or the bowel was also trapped (as he saw that the bowel was potentially being pulled into the hernia). He clearly explained that if some of the bowel had died he would need to cut out the affected part and staple the bowel back together. He mentioned that he thought it unlikely, but wanted to present the possible scenarios. He was authoritative and clear. His communication was excellent and he put.my mind at ease - I was in a little shock that I needed to be operated on immediately. He popped round the next day to explain what he found - luckily a ball of dead fat and no damage to the bowel. In summary, I would thoroughly recommend Dr. Jakanan - he was first class.
